Jorden Wouters
Lawyer | Senior Counsel
With more than forty years at the Brussels Bar, Jorden Wouters is widely regarded as an established authority in dispute resolution, legal advisory work and contract negotiation. From the outset of his career, he specialised in two areas of law that remain close to his heart to this day: employment law and corporate law.
Conflict resolution has been the common thread throughout his professional career. At an early stage, he began exploring ways to break away from the traditional escalation of legal disputes. This search led him to train as a mediator, joining the very first cohort of accredited mediators. Since 2008, he has been a recognised mediator in civil and commercial matters, shortly thereafter also obtaining accreditation as mediator in social and labour matters. Ever since, he has been a committed advocate of mediation and other forms of appropriate dispute resolution (ADR).
His expertise in ADR resulted in his appointment, from its establishment in 2016, as local ombudsman for the Dutch-speaking Brussels Bar within Ligeca., the Consumer Disputes Ombudsman Service for the Legal Profession. In that capacity, he mediates disputes between consumers and lawyers.
Since 2025, he has also served as Deputy Chief Ombudsman of the Flemish Bars. He has likewise been a longstanding member of the ADR Committee of the same organisation since 2020.
In 2021 and 2022, Jorden completed additional training in collaborative negotiation, gaining thorough familiarity with the methodology of collaborative law.
At the end of 2022, he co-founded Arbitrall, an organisation that places mediation and arbitration at the heart of its approach to dispute resolution.
With this background, it was almost inevitable that his path would cross that of Fairway. Their shared focus on out-of-court dispute resolution, combined with a transparent and high-quality handling of cases in close consultation with clients, created a natural fit.
As of February 2026, Jorden joins the team at Fairway as Senior Counsel. In this role, he will continue to focus, both as lawyer and as accredited mediator, on his longstanding areas of expertise: social law and business law.
